It is a plane, no it is a dinosaur, no it is an elephant, no it is Philip, the foreign runner!!!

As a result of some comments received I felt obliged in posting some of my before Photos. I dont have so many after photos but on the top of my blog is enough of what I look like now and most of you has seen me with my new body. Well here it goes...

This was when I was in the police force in South Africa when I was still thin.

This is when I started picking up weight, after the birth of our first child.

This was at a function where I am with my wife at a work function.
This just after we arrived in the UK.
During my bible training in the UK. Notice how I am the biggest in our class.
The above two photos is the shocking fotos I was refering to that made me decide to do something about my weight. I am still no Ben 10 but I feel like Spiderman everytime I look at these photos.
So, if I could do it then anyone can. Kaya mo iyan!!!
Keep fit!!!!

Jinoe, thanks for the comment. It took hard work to loose all those weight. But this keeps motivating me to not pick it up again.

Levy, it is not me that was big, it was Santa that was small. It was the only santa we could find, there are not so many santa's in SA. Vina also lost a lot of weight, we started dieting the same day.

run unltd, thanks for the comment. Yeah, it is due to the lost of weight and started running that drew me to the line "keep fit" I wish it unto anyone. I wish the Philippines will do more to promote the sport of running like more places for running, creating spaces on the roads and supplying more side walks.

mj, this is the reason for me to post it. I would like to help anyone who are willing to look after themselves. If I could do it then anyone can.

To all, keep fit!!!

Hi Philip -- great post -- definitely inspirational and great work in transforming yourself. So, aside from the running and other exercises, did you do anything else -- change diet, lifestyles, etc.? My greatest challenge is changing eating habits -- just difficult because there are just so many good food to eat!!! I have a friend who told me -- "You can't outrun your eating!!" My cousin-in-law, Emer, told me -- you can, just do the long runs!! He's a marathoner and he's fit and slim. I guess, I'd rather do the miles and eat than curtail my eating -- he! he!

hey philip! congratulations. they were right in saying that what you shared is really inspiring. goes to show that anything is possible once you set your sights to it! panalo ka! ;)

Hi Philip,

Wow, what a transformation! Inspiring post. I also try to lose weight and be fit by making running, biking and swimming part of my lifestyle. Best part of being active is that you actually have to eat (in moderation of course). Since Aug 2008, I have lost 23 lbs and I hope to lose 20 lbs more before Christmas. When my will power wanes, I suppose I will just read your post again :-)

bro j, even if just one can be inspired, then it is all worth it. I loved to read blogs like this of others when I started and it helped. Thanks for the blessings and all the best to you.

Vima, it is so true what you said and then of course with the help of our heavenly Father. Regards and keep fit!

Taki, when we came the first time back from England and we landed in SA, my mom even walked past me as she did not recognise me. The photos dont even show the real me. My wife said it feels like she is cheating on me.

Rico, all the best man and just remember when there are days you feel down, dont force yourself to much into exercising, just keep it in moderation or else you will burn out. It helped and worked for me. Just remember, we all have bad days, just stay strong and keep a picture in your mind of what you want to look like. I love eating and yes, it helps me but now that I am fitter, I dont enjoy the food I use to, I love the healthier food now. God bless and see you in Clark 16 Nov...

To all of you, thanks for the kind words and God bless.... KEEP FIT

Was that really you Philip???

The transformation is simply unbelievable!

I'm sure your story will inspire other people out there who are still in doubt whether they stand a chance of becoming fit and slim.

Btw, Philip. I'm so sorry I missed the OctobeRUN. Excited pa naman ako to see you and the other runner bloggers. Couldn't leave my daughter who suddenly got sick last night.

Hope you join the VSO this Nov.9. See you there!

Hey philip, wow! Unbelievable. Since you're such a fast runner, I always had the impression that you were always the fit and athletic type. This is a big surprise. Congratulations on how far you've gone on the road to health and fitness.

Great run yesterday!

Was looking at the Santa Claus picture again. I don't think he's smiling underneath that beard. He must be yelling, "Ouch!!!!! Only babies are allowed to sit on my lap!!!"

You forgot to mention the dr. at North Cotes telling us we are over weight and bluntly telling us we need to loose weight!

That was a shock and also got us going. You remeber all the diets, soup diet, protein diet and evenmtually running did it and of course some discipline in our eating. Cheers en lekker hardloop

Dorothy, may difference naman, mas pogi noong... Thanks for dropping by, see you soon at the races.

Wilbert, as I said if I can, anyone can!!! Nice to have met you and keep up the running, you are doing great. See you at NB???

Nora, I was one of the ones as you mentioned in your blog that was searching for you before and after the race and was sad not to have seen you. I guess next time 9 Nov? I do understand though, family is much more important than running. Keep fit.

Jaymie, must have missed you at the race??? Sa Junc and PC but not you. Anyway, thanks for the nice comment, I am glad I could do my sub 44. Yeah, I use to be fat, young and handsome, now I just am..... :(

Levy, all my friends back home have shown much more mercy to the Santa than to me. I was always wondering why the words ho ho ho came out funny from Santa. Thanks for the vote of confidence. Sorry about the 50+ although in my books it is still a sub 50 especially on that course.

Lourens, hoe sal ek daardie tye ooit vergeet my broer. Dit was sekerlik die omkeer van ons fisiese lewens. Ons het letterlik nuwe ligame ontvang. Ek hoor jy draf nog net so baie. Geniet dit tjom.

Raul, the photos dont even give it justcie, I was more fat than the pictures show. I use to weigh 115kg and 1.8m tall. The doctors told me I am 35kg over weight. I am sure I could have won the biggest loser on reality tv.... Thanks for the kind words. Keep fit brother.
